Stages of Development

Understanding how children develop is key to planning and implementing their learning opportunities. Early Childhood educators must continue to develop their knowledge and skills as it pertains to educating young children. As we focus on early care and education, it is imperative to remain abreast of educationl issues affecting the successful growth and development of children.

Developing life-long learners demands that educators create learning opportunities that are both "fun" and authentic. In order to facilitate optimal growth and development of children, we must possess a knowledge base consisting of the familiarity of the Ages and Stages of Development. A wel-rounded educator/caregiver must recognize the potential of every child in their care and be ready to deliver an "OSCAR" Award-Winning performance.

Pyschological perspectives such as those from, Freud, Piaget, Erickson, Vgotsky, Skinner, and Kholberg have laid the groundwork for educators to build successful learning opportunities.

This weekly blog will keep you informed of new "information" as it surfaces. Feel free to comment.
